When asked 'What is the first impression you give?' he said: 'Negative.'
When asked what he likes to do with his time, he said: 'Waste it.'
He said his greatest ambition in life was 'to be retired.'

He was known for his acting versatility.
Despite playing humorless super-villains, he had a goofy sense of humor.
His performance as Davros is preferred by fans to that of his successor, Terry Molloy.
One critic called him 'the best Doctor Who villain ever.'
He had an accomplished career as a stage actor.
He died of sudden heart attack (1995).
