U.S. Governor

The Resume

    (February 9, 1951- )
    Born in Seattle, Washington
Governor of Washington (first elected in 2012, re-elected in 2016)
Represented Washington's 4th (1993-95) and 1st (1999-2012) districts in the House of Representatives
Announced his candidacy for the Democratic Party's Presidential nomination (March 1, 2019)

Why he might be annoying:

He lost his 1994 reelection bid to the House to Doc Hastings by a margin of over fifty percent.
His second campaign for a House district seat attracted national attention after he became the first Democratic candidate to air television ads attacking his opponent and the Republican congressional leadership over their handling of the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
His campaign is predicated almost exclusively on the climate change topic, leading some to dismiss him as a singe-issue candidate.
He was accused of flip-flopping on his support for the Green New Deal.
He was decisively smacked down by Amy Klobuchar during the first 2020 Democratic Presidential debate.
As he was claiming to have the best track record on abortion rights for women of the candidates running, Klobuchar interjected to say: 'I want to say there are three women up here who fought pretty hard for a woman’s right to choose' (the audience erupted in cheers).

Why he might not be annoying:

He has been married to the same woman for over forty years.
His father was a Seattle schoolteacher who taught Jimi Hendrix.
As a student at Ingraham High, he was his football team's starting quarterback.
He was an outspoken critic of the Bush administration's invasion of Iraq during his time in the House.
He was the first governor to enter the 2020 presidential race.
He is an avid basketball fan who identifies as a member of 'Hoopaholics' (dedicated to 'the treatment of old guys addicted to basketball and who can no longer jump').
He has defended abortion rights in his state throughout his career — most recently in 2018, when he signed the Reproductive Parity Act, which requires that all insurance plans that cover maternity care also cover abortion.
