Why they might be annoying
Cincinnati is real tough to spell.
They were expelled from the National League for ten years for selling beer (October 6, 1880 - 1890).
They won their first World Series, but it was tainted by the black sox scandal of their opponent, the Chicago White Sox (October 9, 1919).
Pete Rose was a member of the Reds (lifetime ban from baseball-1989).
Reds fans stuffed the All Star ballot box, voting all eight of the team's starters.
The National League changed three of those starters (1957).
The racist Marge Schott was their owner and was suspended from baseball.
Why they might not be annoying
They won their first game against Mansfield Independents, 48-14 (1869).
Their team salary was $11,000 with George Wright, with their shortstop getting the highest salary ($2,000).
They won the first 130 games of the season, but lost game 131 to the Brooklyn Atlantics 8-7 in extra innings (June 14, 1870).
Along with seven other teams, they formed the National League (February 2, 1876).
Along with the Phillies and Cubs they are the longest existing major league baseball club.
They hosted the first night game (May 24, 1935).
They were the last team to sweep the Yankees in the World Series (1976).
