Why Delaware might be annoying:

    The Delaware legislature voted on joining the Confederacy (October 3, 1861).
    Along with Maryland, they were slave states that did not secede from the United States.
    They charge an absurdly high toll to travel less than 20 miles on Interstate 95.
    Temperatures ranged from -17ºF (January 17, 1893) to 110ºF (July 21, 1930).
    The Dutch establish the Zwaanendael colony (1631), but it was destroyed by Native Americans a year later.
    Sweden built a permanent settlement, Fort Christina, in present day Wilmington, called New Sweden (1638).
    When New Sweden tried to expanded into Philadelphia and New Jersey, the Dutch sent a military force to end their expansion (1655). The Dutch then took New Sweden and renamed in New Netherlands.

    Patriot Caesar Rodney and actresses Cynthia Rothrock and Valerie Bertinelli were born in Delaware.
    There is a city in Ohio named Delaware.
    Perry Como had a hit song 'What did Delaware?'
    The 1st American jury trial was held in Delaware (December 20, 1669).
    Duke James of York gave Delaware to William Penn (August 24, 1682).
    They were the first state to ratify the constitution (December 7, 1787).
    Christmas Seals were first sold in Wilmington (December 9, 1907).
    Nylon stockings were first manufactured in Delaware (1939).
    The first car to plane phone call was made in Delaware (October 9, 1959).
    Although only one battle during the American Revolution was fought in Delaware, it was probably the first time the Stars and Stripes were raised in battle (September 3, 1777).
