Also composed scores for 'Ryan's Daughter' (1970), 'The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean' (1972), 'Mohammed, Messenger of God' (1977), 'Jesus of Nazareth' (1977), 'Shogun' (1980), 'The Year of Living Dangerously' (1982), 'Top Secret!' (1984), 'Witness' (1985), 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' (1985), 'Fatal Attraction' (1987), 'Gorillas in the Mist' (1988), 'Dead Poets Society' (1989), 'Ghost' (1990) and 'A Walk in the Clouds' (1995)

Why he might be annoying:

He left engineering school to follow music against his father's wishes.
He claimed he was so prolific because of the need to earn alimony for his three ex-wives.
He complained about contemporary films, 'The only problem is now, there is more and more bad music that goes 'dang dang dang dang dang.' So it's better to turn off the music and listen to a concert of Mozart.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the French Navy during World War II.
He was known for his sweeping, epic film scores.
One of his sons, Jean Michel, became a pioneer in electronic music, and his other son, Kevin, became a screenwriter for movies such as 'Glory' and 'Tombstone.'
He said, 'One could say my life itself has been one long soundtrack. Music was my life, music brought me to life, and music is how I will be remembered long after I leave this life.'
