She wore black at her wedding.
She called her husband 'Manly.'
She moved her family to Florida because of her husband's poor health, but immediately moved back because she hated the humidity.
Some critics claim her books were actually written by her daughter.

She grew up dirt poor.
She was a teacher.
She and her husband built their own house, but it burned down.
Her husband had a stroke, and she had to run the farm herself.
Her only son died in infancy.
The 'Little House' books have a strong cult following.
Michael Landon turned her story into a popular (but grossly inaccurate) TV show. On the show, she was portrayed by Melissa Gilbert.
