The Resume

    (December 19, 1915-October 11, 1963)
Birth name is Edith Giovanna Gassion
Changed name to Piaf because of her tiny, frail physique
Headliner at the one two two club
    Recorded 'La Vie en Rose'

Why she might be annoying:

She died at age 47 because of her self-destructive lifestyle.
She was once accused of being an accessory to murder, but was cleared.
    She was depressed.
In the last year and a half of her life, her voice lost much of its power.
She had countless brushes with death and was forbidden a Roman Catholic mass because of her lifestyle.
She was once found passed out in her house because she had consumed 20 beers, despite her small size (4'10').
She sometimes forgot and slurred words during concerts.
At times, she was unable to complete concerts because she was drunk or sick, so she would just leave the stage.
She was addicted to alcohol, morphine, and cortisone injections.
She usually needed some kind of drug injection to be able to perform on stage.
She once collapsed during a concert and began vomiting blood on stage.
Despite being one of the highest paid stars in the world, she was usually in debt.
In 1960, she went on tour and friends called it her 'Suicide Tour' because she was ill and it was uncertain whether she was able to tour again without dying.

Why she might not be annoying:

She is an icon and legend in France.
Her song 'La vie en Rose,' is often covered by other vocalists.
Her singing 'debut' occurred when her alcoholic father made her sing to collect money during his travelling street show.
She was partially raised by her grandmother, who ran a brothel.
She aided the French Resistance during WW II by singing in prison camps that held French soldiers. She would then have her photograph taken with the soldiers. Upon receiving his copy of the photograph, each soldier would cut out his face and use it to falsify papers to escape the prison.
It is thought that she might have had an affair with Marlene Dietrich.
During her heyday in the 50s, she was the highest paid star on Earth.
She launched the careers of many famous stars.
During her 'Suicide Tour' she introduced the song 'Non, je ne regrette rien' (I regret nothing) and usually received long standing ovations.
When she played Carnegie Hall, she received a 7+ minute standing ovation.
    She recorded in several languages.
    Her vocal abilities are unique.
