Invented the Moog synthesizer (1964)

Why he might be annoying:

His first synthesizers were so huge that they couldn’t be moved.
In the 1980’s, digital synthesizers replaced his old-fashioned model.
His synthesizers were mocked for their loud, blaring sounds.
He developed and sold Theremins, another bizarre novelty instrument.
He stupidly sold the rights for his synthesizer to another company.
He pronounced his last name to rhyme with ‘vogue.’
He had an extremely nerdy personality.

Why he might not be annoying:

His Moog synthesizer was the first widely used electronic instrument.
His synthesizers were used by the Beatles, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Frank Zappa, the Police and U2.
Stanley Kubrick memorably used the Moog on the soundtrack for ‘A Clockwork Orange.’
He built his first Theremin at 14.
His mother used to hit him when he wasn’t prepared for his piano lessons.
Some current musicians, like Fatboy Slim, have begun using the old-fashioned Moog again.
He died of a brain tumor at 71.
