The Resume

    (March 11, 1907-January 23, 1945)
    Born in Kreisau, Germany
Drafted by the Abwehr as an expert in international law
    Died in Berlin, Germany
Executed at 37 due to his non-violent opposition to Adolf Hitler

Why he might be annoying:

    His name is a mouthful.
He was often confused for his namesake uncle, the commander in the Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian Wars.
He became an Evangelical at 14.
While married to fellow activist Freya, he indulged in an affair with glamorous socialite Aimee De Heeren.
    He was a Nazi.

Why he might not be annoying:

In all fairness, he was conscripted into the Nazi Party.
As a man of deep faith, he used his knowledge as a jurist in attempts to end human rights abuses witnessed at concentration camps.
He tried (unsuccessfully) to get the German Army to observe the Geneva Convention.
His and Freya's plotting against Hitler with other like-minded Germans became known as the Kreisau Circle.
While awaiting execution, he wrote to his two sons: 'Since National Socialism came to power, I have striven to make its consequences milder for its victims and to prepare the way for a change. In that, my conscience drove me – and in the end, that is a man's duty.'
