Why he might be annoying:

He was exiled from England by King Richard II.
He returned to England, deposed Richard and had himself crowned king.
The government of France refused to recognize him as king.
During his coronation, the archbishop noticed that he had head lice.
He spent much of his reign quashing assorted rebellions.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an epileptic.
He suffered from a horrible skin disease that caused his flesh to rot.
He gave more power to Parliament.
He was the first monarch of the House of Lancaster.
