Why he might be annoying:

He was extremely effeminate.
He had HIV.
He died of cancer, at 48, and was buried with his puppet, Madame.
His puppet was that of an old female diva.
Puppeteers are hidden to keep the illusion alive, but he instead was a visible part of the act.
He did not have the ability of a ventriloquist to throw his voice, but freely conversed with it.

Why he might not be annoying:

Before he became somewhat famous, he would bring Madame into bars and entice customers to buy her a drink.
(We are still trying to find out how many times he was beat up for doing that).
