Voice Actor

The Resume

    (May 30, 1908-July 10, 1989)
Birth name is Melvin Jerome Blank
Died in Los Angeles, California from heart disease
Provided voices for hundreds of cartoon characters from 1937 to the time of his death in 1989
Known as 'Man of 1,000 Voices'

Why he might be annoying:

He legally changed his last name from Blank to Blanc because a school teacher made fun of it.
Although he is most famous for voicing Bugs Bunny, he was allergic to carrots in real life, as they tended to affect his vocal chords.
Sylvester the Cat was modeled after Blanc's role as Sylvester in 'The Judy Canova Show' during the early '40s.
Shortly before his death, the owner of Warner Brothers asked him if he wanted anything for his hard work over the years. He asked for a Ford Edsel.

Why he might not be annoying:

He coined the phrase, 'That's all, folks!'
He was the original voice actor for Woody Woodpecker.
He was married to the same woman, Estell Rosenbaum, from 1933 to the time of his death.
At one time, he got into a serious car accident and went into a coma. The doctors couldn't revive him, until one of the doctors asked, 'Bugs Bunny? Are you there?' Blanc got out of the coma and answered, 'What's up, Doc?'
He was in a cast from head to toe after the accident and had to do voice work for 'The Flintstones.' He voiced the characters from his hospital bed.
He was the first voice actor to be named in a cartoon's ending credits.
After the time of his death, his son Noel started providing cartoon voices.
He provided voices for many of animation's most famous characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the Cat, Tweety the Bird, Porky Pig, Yosemite Sam, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe le Pew, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Speedy Gonzales, Road Runner, Dino, Barney Rubble and Taz.
It is obvious that he had a great sense of humor, as his gravestone reads 'That's All, Folks!'
