He dressed as Hercules to fight the gladiators much to the groans of his people.
He claimed to have killed over 12,000 men in gladiatorial combat.
He charged the city of Rome a large sum of money every time he appeared in the arena.
It is said, he ordered an entire city slaughtered because someone in the city gave him a dirty look.
He demanded that his people worship him as a living God.
He appointed thieves to govern the provinces taking a share of what was stolen.
He was often too busy having sex with the 300 women and young boys in his harem to administer the Roman state.
He 're-founded' the city of Rome as 'Colonia Commodiana' after part of the city burned to the ground (190).
He renamed all the months in the calendar in his honor.
He renamed the Roman Senate the 'Commodian Fortunate Senate.'
He renamed the Roman Army the 'Commodian Army.'
There were rumors that he was screwing his sister.
He ended a streak of five good emperors that did enormous benefit for the Roman Empire and its people.
His reign is often used to mark the beginnings of the decline of the Roman Empire.
Historians consider him one of the worst Roman emperors.

He stopped persecution of Christians set forth during his father's reign.
He had a twin brother who died at age four.
His sister constantly plotted to overthrow him, so he was forced to execute her.
