    Suffered from dissociative identity disorder
She had multiple personalities since age three. She was not diagnosed with 16 autonomous personalities until she was 31, because she believed her lifelong blackouts and losing time were normal.
It took her psychiatrist eleven years to fully integrate all of her personalities. But she became so lonely without her inner voices that she chose to dissociate again.
Some believe that she and her doctor were frauds.
She suffered day-to-day physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of her mother as a child.
As an infant, her mother inserted household objects into her vagina. It was so severe, she was unable to bear children.
The book and movie changed her name to Sybil Isabel Dorsett. Her true identity was not revealed until after she died.
She was the first documented multiple to have opposite gendered personalities.
She died of breast cancer at the age of 75.
