Why he might be annoying
He resigned from the Indian National Congress after repeatedly clashing with Mahatma Gandhi over Gandhi's advocacy of non-violent resistance.
He declared, 'I am an extremist.'
He allied with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan during World War II.
He said, 'Our philosophy should be a synthesis between National Socialism and Communism' (1944).
His body was never recovered from the plane wreckage, leading to rumors that he survived either as a captive of the Soviet Union or by going underground.
Why he might not be annoying
He contracted tuberculosis in prison after being arrested in a British roundup of nationalists (1925).
His independence by any means stance made him a hero to much of the population of India.
Gandhi said, 'His patriotism is second to none.... His bravery shines through all his actions.'
