Why she might be annoying
She believed in faith healing.
At revival meetings, she would make flamboyant entrances, like riding a motorcycle up a ramp while wearing clinging gowns that showed off her attractive figure.
Many people believe her kidnapping was staged (May 18, 1926).
After her first husband died while on a missions trip to China she got married two other times, both of which failed.
The actor, Anthony Quinn, played saxophone for her church choir at Angelus Temple, as well as translated her sermons into Spanish for the Mexican community.
Why she might not be annoying
She was the first woman to preach on the radio.
She was a Pentacostal Preacher at a time when not many preachers were women.
She incorporated jazz music into hymnals.
She ran soup kitchens for the poor and used donated sewing machines to make childrens' clothing and quilts for the poor.
She successfully petitioned the U.S. Army to re-open one of it’s facilities, thus giving shelter to 25,000 homeless individuals.
