Wrote the novels 'So Big' (1924), 'Show Boat' (1926), 'Cimarron' (1929), 'American Beauty' (1931), 'Come and Get It' (1935), 'Saratoga Trunk' (1941), 'No Room at the Inn' (1941) and 'Giant' (1952)
With George S. Kaufman wrote the plays 'Stage Door' (1926), 'The Royal Family' (1927), 'Dinner at Eight' (1932) and 'Bravo' (1949)

Why she might be annoying:

She worked so hard as a journalist that she collapsed from exhaustion and anemia.
She had a long-running feud with fellow Algonquin Round Table member Alexander Woollcott.
Asked by Book Review to name a book published that year (1952) that she wished she had written, she chose her own novel, 'Giant.'
Collaborator George S. Kaufman's daughter Anna told the New York Times (2002), 'Absolutely no one reads her anymore.'

Growing up, she was taunted for being Jewish.
She won the Pulitzer Prize for 'So Big.'
RKO paid a then-record $125,000 for the film rights to 'Cimarron.'
'Show Boat' was the basis for a groundbreaking musical.
While wearing a tailored suit, she ran into Noel Coward, who said 'You look almost like a man.' She replied, 'So do you.'
