Why he might be annoying:

He grew up rich, receiving a plane, car and boat on his 16th birthday.
He dropped out of college.
His flashiness on and off the race track earned him the nickname 'Hollywood.'
He was promiscuous.
After the circumstances of his death became public, several women alleged they contracted AIDS from him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He raced his first go-kart at only two.
In 1980, he won Rookie of the Year at the Indy 500.
His extravagant lifestyle was inspiration for the film 'Days of Thunder.'
When he discovered a man rummaging the trash for food, he bought the man a steak dinner, but the man wept because he couldn't consume the meal due to the state of his teeth.
A more palatable meal was presented to him, courtesy of Mr. Richmond.
