There have been much debate over the years over which era of the band was better: the party-driven David Lee Roth era or the more mature Sammy Hagar era.
There hasn't been a clear explanation as to why Sammy Hagar left the band in 1996.
When Roth rejoined the band to record a couple of songs for a greatest hits collection and appeared with the rest of the band to present at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, people thought that he had reunited with the band. As it turned out, the songs and the MTV Video Music Awards appearance was the extent of the reunion.
'Right Now' was used in ads for the infamous Crystal Pepsi.
After a messy breakup, they reunited with Sammy Hagar eight years later (March 2004).
They are one of only a handful of bands to have success with two different lead vocalists.
Eddie's guitar playing skills have proven to be influential.

They ranked number 48 in VH-1's 100 Greatest Artists of Rock.
