Murderer
    (November 16, 1869-December 31, 1898)
    Born in Beaufort, France
Last of 15 children born to an illiterate farming couple
Between 1894-97, murdered and mutilated one woman, five teenage girls and five teenage boys (and may have killed up to 23)
Dubbed 'The French Ripper' or 'The South-East Ripper'
Claimed insanity due to being bitten by a rabid dog (dog only licked him)
Deemed sane, found guilty of the 11 murders and executed by guillotine at age 29
He was kicked out of Catholic school for lewd sexual acts with other boys.
He mutilated animals, a precursor of things to come.
When his love for a young maidservant was rejected, he shot her four times and himself twice in the head (they both survived).
After his botched suicide he spent just a year in a mental institution before doctors deemed him 'completely cured' (and went on record regretting their decision).
Many of his victims were shepherds, found disemboweled in isolated fields.
He drank the blood of some of his victims and had sex with their corpses.
When his rabid dog theory was shot down he claimed he was sent by God, like Joan of Arc, to help folks understand the virtues of faith.
He would not walk to the guillotine and had to be dragged to his execution.
Some French newspapers wrote twisted stories about how 'their' Ripper had a higher body count than England's Jack the Ripper.
    He grew up in poverty.
The bullets in his head partially paralyzed his face.
He was caught after he tried to abduct a shepherdess who screamed for help and was caught and beaten up by her husband and son.
Police had no link to him and any murders, but while in custody, he confessed to them (dumb ass).
He was perhaps truly insane but the court felt compelled to put him on trial to quell public outcry.
After his execution, his brain was dissected and his head given to a criminal forensic anthropology collection.
