Why he might be annoying:

    He had to retire from football when he tore an Achilles tendon (1967).
    The closest any of his records came to the Billboard charts was his 1968 song 'People Make the World,' peaking at #126.
    His 1969 comedy/musical variety TV series 'The Rosey Grier Show' lasted just one season.
    He's taken a lot of flak for his hobbies of needlepoint and macramé, even writing the book 'Rosey Grier's Needlepoint for Men' (1973).
    After turning Republican, he supported the Rev. Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority.
    Though he never met him before 1994, he became the spiritual counselor of accused murderer O.J. Simpson.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is the cousin of actress Pam Grier.
    Guest starring on a 1965 episode of 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,' he and Jim Brown became the first football players turned actors.
    As Bobby Kennedy was being shot, he lunged at gunman Sirhan Sirhan and jammed his thumb against the trigger, preventing any more rounds from going off (June 5, 1968).
    When the angry crowd wanted vigilante justice against Sirhan he prevented it, stating, 'I would not let more violence happen.'
    He co-founded American Neighborhood Enterprises, an charity that works to help disadvantaged folks buy homes and receive job training.
    He's been on the board of directors for the Special Olympics since 1968 and a board of trustees member for the Milken Family Foundation which funds worthy social causes.
