He was prematurely bald.
He was sometimes confused with Dom DeLuise.
He starred in the Broadway musical 'Here's Where I Belong,' which opened and closed on the same day, and two short-lived TV series, 'Calucci's Department' and 'The Dumplings.'
His performance in 'Only When I Laugh' got him nominated for both an Oscar and a Razzie.

He was good friends with Neil Simon, who wrote 'Last of the Red Hot Lovers' for him.
After the success of 'Red Hot Lovers,' he said, 'I guess right now I'm giving a lot of other character actors - fat and skinny - hope.'
He won an Obie, a Drama Desk Award and an Emmy and was nominated for a Tony and an Oscar.
