Why he might be annoying:

In a midterm election with overwhelming gains for the Right, he lost his Congressional race by little more than a thousand votes (Nov. 2, 2014).
He was accused of using his proximity to the President to sell books and win office titles.
He has also been accused of exaggerating his proximity and importance within the Secret Service.
He claims to have joined the NYPD after his mother discovered he was planning on joining the Marine Corps, and begged him to join the police force instead.
A former colleague of his said of him: 'He's trying to draw attention to himself and he's hijacking the Secret Service brand. That's all he's got going for him.'
He claims to have quit the Secret Service out of disgust with the corruption he had seen, from both parties, for over a decade on Security detail.
He was subject of a false news release claiming that he announced a run for Governor with Alan Keyes as his running mate.
He provided cannon fodder for conspiracy theorists (or just flat out scared the hell out of people), when he stated that what went on in the Obama White House was 'worse than you can imagine' and then refusing to elaborate due to confidentiality restrictions.
He has been a guest radio host on both the Sean Hannity Show and the Mark Levin Show.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was raised by a single mother in Queens.
He is an MMA expert, skilled in Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, having served as an instructor at the Secret Service Academy in Maryland.
He won silver medals at Grapplefest in New York and the New York State Police Olympics.
He was in New York training with the Secret Service during the time of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center.
He left the Secret Service only a year before the organization came under fire over scandals in Colombia and the Netherlands, involving intoxication and prostitution (good timing).
His decision to leave the Secret Service also involved giving up a salary, retirement plan and benefits worth several million dollars.
His wife entered the US illegally from Colombia but they made the joint decision to have her return to her home country and re-enter the US legally.
His wife was called his 'token woman of color' on Twitter by a person who has since deleted their account (Oct. 2014).
He was subjected to stalking and harassment during his 2012 Senate run (nails in his tires at the GOP convention, threatening phone messages, eggs in his mailbox, throwing trash at his house at night, etc.)
He writes his own Facebook messages and doesn't rely on a 'ghost writer.'
He earned a Department of Justice Recognition award early in his career with the Secret Service.
