    (October 8, 1948-December 1, 2006)
    Born in Dijon, France
Birth name is Claude Marcelle Jorre
Famous for her collaboration with Francois Truffaut
Starred as Christine in the Truffaut films 'Stolen Kisses (1968)', 'Bed and Board (1970),' and 'Love on the Run (1979)'
Acted in 'Topaz,' 'The Witness,' 'My Uncle Benjamin (all 1969),' 'The Boat on the Grass (1971),' 'Home Sweet Home (1973),' 'Lise and Laura (1982),' 'A Girl in the Sunflowers (1984),' and 'The Man Who Wasn't There (1987)'
Pauline Kael called her 'a less ethereal, more practical Catherine Deneuve'
She had a long running affair with Truffaut which led to a broken engagement.
She eventually married Russian diplomat Bernard Coste, which led to a short-lived Soviet film career.
Alfred Hitchcock said of her: '[She] is a rather quiet young lady, but I wouldn't guarantee about her behavior in a taxi.'
She trained as a classical actress at the Dijon Conservatory of Dramatic Art.
She was performing Luigi Pirandello’s Enrico IV when Truffaut discovered her.
Several of her scenes were cut from 'Topaz.'
She turned down a seven-year contract from Universal because she preferred to live in France.
She was known for her kindness and good manners.
She was named to the French Legion of Honour in 1998.
She lost an eye to cancer in 2005.
The three films she made as the Christine character were introspective, examining the different stages of a woman's experience - 1) loved from a distance, 2) married and misled, and 3) divorced but still on good terms.
