Vocalist

The Resume

    (April 14, 1942- )
Born in Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom
Session singer sang lead vocals on the songs 'Let's Go to San Francisco' by The Flower Pot Men (1967), 'Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)' by Edison Lighthouse (1970), 'My Baby Loves Lovin' by White Plaines (1970), 'Gimmie Dat Ding' by The Pipkins (1970), 'United We Stand' by The Brotherhood of Man (1970) and 'Beach Baby' by First Class (1974)
Recorded the solo songs 'Melanie Makes Me Smile,' 'The Humming Song' and 'Hand Me Down Man'

Why he might be annoying:

He's the unofficial King of the One Hit Wonders.
    His solo recordings went nowhere.
The BBC banned him from appearing on shows after a 'Tops Of The Pops' performance had him fronting three bands on one show, believing the audience would think a 'fix' was in.
He doesn't listen to the music produced today, stating 'Recording techniques have advanced so far that music has become sort of robotically produced now. I don't think there's enough emotion and heart going into recordings anymore. They certainly used to in our day...But that's probably the old man in me speaking.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was inspired to become a singer by attending the concerts of Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent.
Early in his career he toured with The Beatles.
He made 'Tops Of The Pops' history in 1970 by fronting Edison Lighthouse, Brotherhood of Man and Whites Plaines on the same show.
Another record: He had four Top 40 hits in the U.S. the first six months of 1970 - 'Love Grows,' 'My Baby Loves Lovin',' 'United We Stand' and 'Gimme Dat Ding' with four different bands.
Yet another record: With Edison Lighthouse, White Plaines, The Pipkins and First Class he sang lead with four different bands on four different songs that each went to #1 on the U.K. Pop Singles charts.
He has sang background vocal sessions with Elton John, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones and Cliff Richard.
