Hockey Player

The Resume

    (August 29, 1983- )
    Born in Vantaa, Finland
Goaltender for the Lahti-Finland Pelicans in the SM-liiga League (2005-08), the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League (2008-09), Chicago Blackhawks (2008-10) and the San Jose Sharks
Played all but 20 minutes during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Won the 2010 Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers

Why he might be annoying:

His nickname is the Finnish Fortress.
As a virtually unknown goalie in Finland, he drove a Zamboni machine for extra cash.
He went undrafted in the NHL draft and languished for years in a Finnish hockey league until the Blackhawks picked him up as a free agent in 2008.
He played just three games for the Blackhawks in 2008-09 before being sent to their minor league affiliate.
He wears a 'lucky jock' (athletic cup) he's had since he was 10 years old (repaired several times) due to a superstitious nature.

Why he might not be annoying:

He got a chance to play in the NHL after a local Finnish ice arena owner told his son, who was partnered with a Chicago sports agent, that he had nerves of steel and a solid work ethic.
Asked if he wanted to sign a contract with the agent, the laid-back goalie's reply was, 'Yeah, sure.'
In his first start of the 2009-10 season (2nd Blackhawks game), he recorded a shutout against the Florida Panthers in a game played in Helsinki, Finland, making 23 saves in the 4-0 win.
After an illness forced the Blackhawks regular goalie out, he went 26-7 during the regular season and 16-6 durning the playoffs.
When he stopped all 33 shots in an April 22, 2010 game for his second playoffs shutout, he became the first Blackhawks goalie to do so since Tony Esposito in 1974.
While the Flyers pulled their goalie twice during the Stanley Cup Finals, he played every minute, and was awarded Player-of-the-Game for Game 2 buy stopping 32 of 33 shots in the 2-1 victory.
He became only the fourth rookie goalie and first Finnish goalie to win the Stanley Cup.
