    Appeared in episodes of 'Starsky and Hutch,' 'Charlie's Angels,' 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,' 'Battlestar Galactica,' 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Highlander: The Series'

    While high on LSD, he set himself on fire in New York's Central Park (1967).
    Because of the resulting facial scars, he was typecast as villains.

    He served four years in the US Marine Corps.
    He played guitar, piano, saxophone and flute.
    In addition to English, he was fluent in Spanish, German, Italian, Russian and Swahili.
    He was a lifetime member of the prestigious Actors Studio.
