Why they might be annoying:

They initially gathered a following in the D.C. area for the sole reason that they were 4 black guys playing punk rock.
After 14 years of releasing independent albums, they were finally offered a major-label debut. After the album bombed, they were released.
In 1998, they reunited and began touring as Soul Brains.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were influenced by the Sex Pistols, the Clash and Led Zeppelin.
They attended a Bob Marley show which would become a spiritual epiphany for them. From then on, they began mixing a reggae vibe to their music.
They've influenced the Beastie Boys and many modern-day hardcore bands.
Their music promoted love and equality.
