She had an innocent demeanor which, according to her parents, she would sometimes use to manipulate her way out of trouble.
She wanted to be a Christian missionary.
Her parents, like many others, ignorantly cited such things as heavy metal music and Marilyn Manson as being responsible for the tragedy.
'Rachel's Tears' seems at times to be an attempt at evangelism.

She enjoyed photography and acting and starred in her school play just weeks before her death.
She showed an impressive sense of faith in God, especially for an eleventh grader.
Judging from her journal excerpts (printed in 'Rachel's Tears') there were times when she felt torn between her religion and her peers.
Unlike some schoolmates, she had tried to be friendly to Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris.
Her story was overshadowed in the media by that of classmate, Cassie Bernall.
She died a year before she was to graduate high school.
