The Resume
(August 18, 1890-January 31, 1956)
Birth name was George Daniel Weaver
Played shortstop and third base for the Chicago White Sox (1912-20)
Why he might be annoying
When he first broke into the Major Leagues, he was known as ‘Error-a-Day' Weaver.
He was banned from baseball for life for his role in the ‘Black Sox' scandal.
Why he might not be annoying
By all accounts he did not actively participate in the conspiracy to fix the World Series, did not receive any money, and his sole wrong was not reporting the other Black Sox to team officials.
In the 1919 World Series, he hit .324 and made no errors.
Ty Cobb said, ‘Buck Weaver is the only man I will not bunt against.'
