Why he might be annoying:

    Despite being a talking duck, he only knows one word: ‘Aflac!'
    His catch phrase has been used to mock the surname of actor Ben Affleck.
    His voice was toned down so it would sound less ‘abrasive' to his Japanese audience.
    Poultry advocacy groups complained the demise he meets in several commercials was animal cruelty.
    He inspired a line of merchandise, including a talking plush and a golf club cover.
    He has a ‘fowl' temper.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He helped regenerate interest and business for a decades old insurance company.
    He got to work alongside Yogi Berra, ‘Looney Tunes' characters and Chevy Chase.
    Sales of his merchandise are donated to the American Cancer Society.
    He was enshrined on Madison Avenue's Advertising Walk of Fame.
    His career of more than 20 commercials served as a benchmark for how to run a successful advertising campaign.
    His one catch phrase, ‘Aflac!,' does not echo.
