The Resume

    (1971-1976)
Mid-seventies CBS series that featured William Conrad as a fat private detective named Frank Cannon

Why Cannon might be annoying:

Like many private eye shows there was a gimmick associated with the title character; Cannon was the fat one.
He usually investigated murders which are rarely investigated by private eyes in real life.
He drove a Lincoln Continental during the oil crunch seventies.
In one terrifying episode, Conrad appeared in a wetsuit.
It received little critical attention and no major awards.

Why Cannon might not be annoying:

It was one of the few shows in television history to have only one series regular.
It had very high ratings and extremely good demographics among middle aged to older viewers.
It had outstanding guest stars such as Tom Skerritt, Fritz Weaver, and Martin Sheen.
In one unforgettable scene, when Cannon was confronted by a young, muscle bound hood poolside he belly bumped him, knocking him to the pool.
Cannon was portrayed not as a stereotypical slob but a sophisticated individual who appreciated good food, good wine, and classical music.
Thankfully Cannon never had any love scenes.
It had several crossover episodes with fellow private eye show, Barnaby Jones.
