He was arrested for beating a man to death with a claw hammer (August 8, 1972), but avoided prosecution by testifying against other participants in the murder.
He received five years probation for molesting a teenaged girl in a shopping center parking lot in Tacoma, Washington (1973)
Because his Arkansas rape victim was a third cousin of Bill Clinton, right-wing nuts claimed he was framed.
Governor Mike Huckabee expressed his intent to commute Dumond's sentence to time served, but backed off in the face of negative public reaction (1996).
Huckabee then met with members of the state parole board in an executive session and, according to four board members, pressured them to parole DuMond.
At the time of his death from cancer, Missouri officials were preparing to charge him with the 2001 rape and murder of Sara Andrasek.

He was a decorated Vietnam veteran.
While awaiting trial, he was castrated (March, 1985). (He claimed to have been attacked by vigilantes, but one investigator suggested the injury was self-inflicted, since there was no sign of a struggle.)
He successfully sued a local sheriff who put his testicles on display and later flushed them down the toilet.
