Why Arkansas might be annoying:

    The territory was ping-ponged back and forth between France and Spain.
    Although made into a U.S. territory in 1819, it took seventeen years to become a state (1836).
    It entered the U.S. as a slave state (1836).
    The Legislature required free blacks to choose exile or slavery (1859).
    Temperatures have ranged from -29ºF (February 13, 1905) to 120ºF (August 10, 1936).
    The National Guard was called into force school integration (1973).
    A tornado killed 36 in Jonesboro, Arkansas (May 15, 1968).
    They had a law that banned teaching evolution, and it took the Supreme Court to overturn it(1968).
    It took a judge to stop obligatory teaching of creation (January 5, 1982).
    It lead the U.S. in people who never married.

Why Arkansas might not be annoying:

    The first Wal-Mart was opened in Bentonville and made it's founder, Sam Walton, the wealthiest man in the U.S.
    It was part of the Louisiana Purchase.
    The first European settlement was the Arkansas Post, a trading post (1686).
    Tourists love to go to Hot Springs.
    President Bill Clinton, General Douglas MacArthur, jazz great Scott Joplin, vocalist Al Green and poet John G Fletcher were born in Arkansas.
    Along with Louisiana, they are the 1st states to observe Christmas as a holiday (1831).
    Arkansas' legislature passed anti Ku Klux Klan law (1869).
    America's only known diamond mine was found here.
    The TV Show 'Evening Shade' was set in Arkansas.
