Why he might be annoying:

He was so heavily recruited in high school that his parents created a weekly schedule in which Mondays were reserved for dinners with Alabama coaches, Tuesdays for Auburn.
He was considered short for a pro quarterback and played in only 30 games in the NFL.
Louisiana State expressed interest in hiring him as head coach, but refused to pay $400,000 to buy out his contract with TCU (1994).

Why he might not be annoying:

In high school, he was a star in baseball and basketball as well as football.
He set a NCAA record for yards per play (8.57 in 1970).
He edged out Ed Marinaro in the closest vote in Heisman Trophy history.
He was also an excellent student and was named an Academic All-American.
He spent his last three seasons as a head coach on a feeding tube as a result of damages from radiation treatment for cancer.
