Why he might be annoying:

He was the original hippie, living in the wilderness and wearing hemp clothes.
He was celibate.
He bitched about practically everything in his sermons.
A lot of people thought he was the Messiah, and were disappointed when Jesus came along and stole his thunder.
The Unification Church blames him for not convincing people that Jesus was God.
Muslims call him 'Yahya.'
He is the patron saint of French Canada.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a powerful speaker.
Despite his own popularity as a preacher, he endorsed Jesus as Messiah.
He is considered a prophet by Christians, Muslims and other religions.
When he criticized Herod Antipas, he was arrested and executed.
Legend has it he resisted the temptation to have sex with Herod's foxy stepdaughter, Salome.
He stood up for what he believed in.
