Thaddeus McCotter

U.S. Congressman

The Resume

    (August 22, 1965- )
    Born in Livonia, Michigan
    Represented Michigan's 11th District (2003-12)
Chaired the House Republican Policy Committee (2007-11)
Was (briefly) a candidate for the Republican nomination for President (July 2-September 22, 2011)
Resigned from Congress (July 6, 2012)

Why he might be annoying:

    He has a giant forehead.
He was a frequent guest on Dennis Miller's radio show, where Miller called him 'T-Mac' and 'young Thad.'
He proposed a bill to allow pet owners a $3,500 tax deduction for pet care costs (2009), which the Tax Policy Center called 'the poster puppy for all that is wrong with the tax code.'
During his presidential campaign, he never got higher than 1% in the polls.
When he announced his candidacy, he said that people 'think Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama are not rivals, but running mates,' but when he dropped out, he endorsed Romney.
Asked by the Detroit Free Press if he enjoyed his presidential campaign, he replied, 'No. It was the worst fifteen minutes of my life.'
He failed to qualify for the 2012 primary for his Congressional seat after it was discovered that 85% of the petition signatures that he turned in were fraudulent.
The day before he resigned, the Detroit Free Press reported that he had spent much of his time since his presidential campaign ended writing a TV pilot script for 'Bumper Sticker: Made on Motown,' a crude comedy/variety series that he would star in.
The staffer who provided a copy of the script for the newspaper claimed that McCotter neglected serving his constituents to write it.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had a reputation as an opponent of pork barrel spending.
Although generally conservative, he broke with Republicans to support an increase in the minimum wage and a bill written by House Democrats to stop energy price gouging.
He played guitar with a rock band when he announced his bid for the presidency.
He said all writing on 'Bumper Sticker' had been done at his home and that it was a 'cathartic' way of dealing with the failure of his presidential campaign.
He quoted Bob Dylan's 'It's All Over Now, Baby Blue' in his resignation letter. ('I must 'strike another match, go start anew.')
