The Resume

    (May 6, 1882-July 20, 1951)
Born in Potsdam, Province of Brandenburg
Birth name was Friedrich Wilhelm Victor August Ernst
Eldest son of Kaiser Wilhelm II
Last Crown Prince of the German Empire/Kingdom of Prussia (retained until November 5, 1918)
Commanded the 5th Army (1914-16) during World War I
Became head of the House of Hohenzollern upon his father's death (June 4, 1941)

Why he might be annoying:

He had an affairs with Mata Hari and opera star Geraldine Farrar.
He was an early supporter of Adolf Hitler, hosting him several times at his Cecilienhof estate between 1929 and 33.
He was a playboy noted for womanizing, partying, and excessive drinking.
To preserve faith in the monarchy, German propaganda publicized him as a great warrior despite his never having commanded a unit larger than a regiment in his life.
He was accused of plotting to have his father declared legally insane as a means of having him deposed.
He angered his father by returning from his exile, in 1923, on the same day that he had been forced to abdicate five years earlier (November 9).
He promised the German Chancellor Gustav Streseman that he would stay out of German politics as a condition of his return, but he broke his word within a year; later joining the short-lived Harzburg Front, an organization dedicated to opposing the Weimar Republic.
He entertained the idea of running for Chancellor as the right-wing candidate against Paul von Hindenburg, but his father put his foot down.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an early supporter of association football, even donating a cup to the German Football Association, in 1908.
He was sent into exile and interned on the island of Wieringen after his father's abdication.
His support for Hitler cooled considerably after he learned he had no intentions of restoring the Monarchy.
He withdrew from all political activity in general after his good friend Kurt von Schleicher was murdered during the 'Night of Long Knifes' (June 30, 1934).
He was placed under supervision by the Gestapo after the unsuccessful assasination attempt on Hitler in July of 1944.
At the end of the war, his home was seized by the Soviets and was used by the Allied Powers as the venue for the Potsdam Conference.
He was captured by French Moroccan troops in Baad, Austria, and interned as a war criminal. He later died of a heart attack while under house arrest in Germany.
He said of World War I: 'Undoubtedly this is the most stupid, senseless and unnecessary war of modern times. It is a war not wanted by Germany, I can assure you, but it was forced on us, and the fact that we were so effectually prepared to defend ourselves is now being used as an argument to convince the world that we desired conflict.'
