Why he might be annoying
He got probation on a robbery charge by becoming a prison snitch (1959).
He distributed heroin for drug smuggler Pete Scamardo.
After losing a heroin shipment, he made it up to Scamardo by killing his ex-partner Sam Degelia (1968).
He served only five years for that murder (1974-79)
After an unsuccessful escape attempt, he was transfered to the ultra-high security Supermax prison (1996).
He claimed to have been the real assassin of John F. Kennedy.
Why he might not be annoying
Most non-conspiracy theorists think his boast about killing JFK was made up to impress potential clients.
It seems to have worked: his price went from $2,000 for killing Degelia to $250,000 for assassinating Wood.
Drug dealer Jimmy Chagra, who hired Harrelson to kill Wood, later said he was not the real killer and claimed to have set up Harrelson in revenge for a blackmail attempt.
Shortly before his appeal of his conviction was rejected by the Supreme Court, he told a reporter 'I'll probably die right here in this facility, which is fine' (2004).
