Appeared in the films 'Love Is Colder Than Death' (1969), 'The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant' (1972), 'Effi Briest' (1974), 'The Wrong Movie' (1975), 'The Marriage of Maria Braun' (1978), 'Berlin Alexanderplatz' (1980), 'Lili Marlene' (1981), 'Passion' (1982), 'A Love in Germany' (1983), 'Delta Force' (1986), 'Forever Lulu' (1987), 'Dead Again' (1991) and 'The Edge of Heaven' (2007)
Recorded the album 'Hanna Schygulla Sings' (1999)

Why she might be annoying:

Asked about her favorite role in a Fassbinder film, she replied 'They were never played by me.'
She stopped working with Fassbinder for a four year period (1974-78) after an argument in which he declared, 'I can't stand the sight of your face any more. You bust my balls.'
In 'Dead Again,' she played the mother of Derek Jacobi despite being five years younger.

Why she might not be annoying:

In addition to Fassbinder, she worked with Jean-Luc Godard, Wim Wenders and Andrzej Wajda, and said she looks for 'fearlessness and vision' in a director.
She won best actress awards from the Berlin Film Festival (1979) and Cannes (1983).
The New York Times wrote, 'She can't be photographed in any way that denies the intelligence of what she's doing.'
