He had taken over the role of the captured al-Qaeda leader Khalid Shaikh Mohammed as Operations Chief.
He is thought to have masterminded two assassination plots against Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf.
The second assassination plot killed 17 innocent people.
He was thought to be hiding along the mountainous border of Afghanistan along with bin Laden.

He was captured by Pakistani troops (May 4, 2005).
He stands up for what he believes in.
Pakistan placed a $341,000 bounty on his head.
The United States had a $5 million bounty on his head.
Pakistani troops began a massive manhunt campaign to find him (August 2004).
