Why she might be annoying:

    She is divorced.
    She was married to John Lindsay, (not the mayor of New York).
    She was fired as hostess of the Miss U.S.A. Pageant on a moral clause. She was living with a much younger guy.
    When she stepped in to replace the late Bea Benederet as the central wise character on Petticoat Junction, the ratings dipped dramatically.

Why she might not be annoying:

    Her parents were introduced to each other by inventor Thomas Edison.
    Her father was actor Gene Lockhart and her daughter is actress Anne Lockhart.
    She is a pioneer of TV, starring in an episode of Ford Theater Hour in 1949. She also appeared in a number of TV dramatic series in the early 1950's.
    She won a Tony award.
    Because of her role in 'Lost in Space,' she is often asked to speak at NASA functions.
    Astronauts have told her, her 'Lost Space' character inspired them to go into space. She said: 'I did Lassie for six years and I never had anybody come up to me and say 'It made me want to be a farmer.''
    As a member of the original TV cast of 'Lost in Space,' she was asked to do a small part in the movie 'Lost in Space.' She accepted the role of Principal Cartwright for the movie.
    Due to being a panelist on the early 1950's TV quiz show 'Who Said That?,' she has an open invitation to White House press briefings. 50 years later she still occasional attends them.
    She replaced the actress who played Ruth Martin on 'Lassie' and was quite successful.
