They changed their name to FreeInternet.com.
They declared bankruptcy (October 4, 2000).
When they file bankruptcy, they laid off 90 employees.
They lost $19 million in 1999.
It took almost ten days to activate an account.
It crashed on Windows 2000.
Why Freei Net might not be annoying
The advertisers paid the cost of internet access.
Despite going bankrupt, they tried to continue offering service to their subscribers.
Eventually their customer base was serviced by NetZero Internet.
In 2000, they grew to 3,200,000 subscribers and was the 6th largest ISP.
It allowed users to go to all web sites, newsgroups, download and POP3 email for free.
Users selected the browser they wished to use.
It partnered with MP3.Com.
