Why he might be annoying
He manufactured rubber shoes.
The Chuck sneakers only came in Black and White until they introduced colored canvas sneakers (1966).
The Chucks come in countless colors (some estimate well over a thousand), including holiday and patriot patterns.
People actually collect Chuck sneakers.
Although his company change hands many times, it eventually filed for bankruptcy (2001).
Nike purchased Converse for $305 million (July 2003).
All Converse sneakers are currently manufactured in Asia.
Why he might not be annoying
He designed the canvas shoe with a rubber sole (1917).
As times changed, he manufactured sneakers in vinyl, leather and suede.
He met with seventeen year old basketball player, Chuck Taylor, who complained of sore feet and suggested he wear the Converse sneaker (1918).
Chuck was so impressed with the sneaker, that he began endorsing and selling them to others.
Chuck became such an integral part of selling Converse, they put his name on the ankle patch (1923).
Converse sold almost a billion pairs of Chucks and other sneakers in the 20th century.
Converse was the official sneaker of the NBA and the Olympics (1936-68).
