Why she might be annoying
She wasn't the prettiest fraulein.
She failed as a nurse.
She whipped prisoners to death.
She dragged children by the hair to gas chambers.
Prisoners nicknamed her the 'Stomping Mare' because she stomped women to death with her steel-toed jackboots.
She served only one year in an Austrian prison on charges of infanticide, manslaughter and assassination.
In 1959, she married American businessman Russell Ryan, gaining American citizenship in 1963.
Why she might not be annoying
Simon Wiesenthal discovered her real identity in the late 1960s.
When a reporter arrived at her Queens home to ask about the allegations, she said, 'My God, I knew this would happen. You've come.'
After several years, she was stripped of her American citizenship and extradited back to Germany in 1973.
In 1980, she was sentenced to life imprisonment for war crimes.
She was released from prison in 1996 due to poor health.
