Premise: Sheldon Cooper, a child prodigy with minimal social skills, skips four grades and enters high school at age nine

Why Young Sheldon might be annoying:

Before appearing in this series as Leonard's dad, Barber had appeared in The Big Bang Theory as a character who had bullied Leonard in high school.
The last name of the town pastor changed from Hodgkins to Dilford between seasons.
It was fined by the FCC over an episode that featured a tornado alarm that sounded too much like the actual Emergency Broadcast System warning.
When The Big Bang Theory went off the air and could no longer be its lead in, ratings dropped by 40%.
There are noticeable differences between Sheldon's childhood as described in The Big Bang Theory and as depicted in this series; most notably, his father here is a far cry from the 'redneck Texas Homer Simpson' Cooper recalls in TBBT.

Why Young Sheldon might not be annoying:

Zoe Perry is the daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who played Mary Cooper in The Big Bang Theory.
Unlike The Big Bang Theory, it does not use a laugh track.
The theme song, 'Mighty Little Man,' was written and performed by Steve Burns.
It answers questions The Big Bang Theory viewers might have, such as why Sheldon says 'Bazinga' after making lame jokes. (Answer: It comes from a novelty company called Bazinga with the motto, 'If it's funny, it's a Bazinga.')
In his narration, Sheldon mentions having children, indicating that he is older than he was in The Big Bang Theory; the diffeence in his father's depiction between the two series may be a result of Sheldon developing a more nuanced perspective as he matured.
