Her death was initially blamed on epilepsy.

She was often compared to Claudette Colbert.
Her most famous movie was remade into 1982's 'Victor/Victoria.'
She refused to break up with her Jewish lover, despite pressure from Hitler.
The circumstances of her death are murky. She was either pushed from the balcony by Gestapo officers or jumped to her death as she saw them arrive at the hospital.
Her life story was the basis for the acclaimed German film 'Liebling der Gotter' (1960).
