    Graphic artist and sculptor
    Model/lover/protege of Auguste Rodin
    Noted works include 'Bronze Waltz' (1893), 'Wave' (1897) and 'The Age of Maturity' (1900)

Why she might be annoying:

    She became Rodin's lover when she was 18 and he was 42.
    She secluded herself in her workshop and destroyed many of her sculptures.
    She was committed to an asylum (1913) after showing increasing signs of paranoia.
    She was erroneously reported dead (1920).

Why she might not be annoying:

    Her sculptures were criticized in the press as overly sensual.
    The asylum staff repeatedly recommended her release, but her family refused.
    She was portrayed by Isabelle Adjani in the film 'Camille Claudel' (1988).
    The film triggered a resurgence of interest in her work.
