Why he might be annoying:

He worked in a family trapeze act.
He tried to continually capitalize on his portrayal of the Lone Ranger much to the chagrin of the copyright owners.
Eventually he was ordered by the courts to remove the trademark Lone Ranger mask.
After being ordered to stop wearing the mask, he wore sunglasses all the time.

Why he might not be annoying:

The guy not only played the Lone Ranger, he stood up for the same values as the Lone Ranger.
His serious portrayal of the Lone Ranger made it one of the most popular western TV shows of all time.
He said: 'The Lone Ranger is a great character, a great American. Playing him made me a better person. He he would continue to wear the mask proudly and try to live up to the standards of honesty, respect and patriotism that have defined the Lone Ranger since 1933... I was that masked man' (1985).
He was overlooked for the Lone Ranger Movie, which disappointed many of his fans and would have benefited the movie.
