Along with Ephraim they are the House of Joseph

Why they might be annoying:

Religious accounts mix faith, interpretation, fantasy and historical reality making accuracy suspect.
Assyrian invaders conquered and exiled them (Circa 721 BC).
They along with the tribes of Joseph and Ephraim pronounced certain words differently from the other tribes, which made them identifiable.
Despite being the eldest, his younger brother Ephraim received the blessing of firstborn.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were cowboys and herded cattle.
Several hundred descendants of this tribe, known as Samaritans, live in Israel currently.
Some Jews do not accept Reuben and Joseph as tribes and accept them and Ephraim instead (Genesis 48:5-6).
They consider themselves Hebrew and not Jewish and claim Moses as their only prophet.
Church of God in Christ claims the USA are their direct descendants
Mormons claim to be a direct descendant of this tribe and Ephraim.
Mizo Jews and Telugu Jews of India claims to descend from them.
